Wellness and Recovery ...offered by the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health Care in cooperation with the Center for Advanced and Continuing Education Developed by consumers and professionals at The Center for the Study and Promotion of Recovery from Severe Mental Illness, Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health Care, this course is designed as a how-to course for practitioners, consumers of mental health services and family members. Consumers of mental health services may be eligible for full scholarship. Direct inquiries to the course instructors. Offered for academic credit, continuing education credit, or simply for professional enrichment with no credit. If taken for academic credit and completed with a grade of 'C' or higher the credits can be transferred into the Associate, Bachelor or Master Degree programs offered by UMDNJ. Course Description Wellness and Recovery models are emerging as important frameworks for understanding, coping with, and moving beyond illness, injury, loss or trauma. This course is an introduction for both practitioners and consumers to the concepts of Wellness and Recovery and to the methods for facilitating the process of self-discovery, self-renewal and transformation. Students will learn strategies for creating holistic health behavior changes for themselves as well as strategies for moving the existing health care system toward a wellness and recovery orientation.
